Sleepy matcha-green donabe pot

Made to Order · Brooklyn, New York

Custom Clay Pot

Growing up Cantonese, claypot rice was a constant — rice, lap cheong, chicken, a dark pour of soy sauce, cooked together over high heat until the bottom crust crackled. The pot did the work. That's the point of a clay pot.

What I make is a wheel-thrown stoneware vessel in the same spirit — thick walls, a domed lid, wide enough to cook for a table. Similar in form to a Japanese donabe, but the tradition I'm drawing from is 煲仔飯. Each pot is made to order in Brooklyn, glazed to your preference, and built to cook with.
